About Kanan Sumiyoshi
Kanan became an apprentice of the master Tonan at the age of 9. Tonan was taught by Kin Tae-seok who is the master of Puri, the emperor of Manchukuo. At the age of 11, she inherited the orthodoxy of calligraphy, including the basic five calligraphic styles, formative calligraphy, and the traditional dragon script, which was said only allowed to be used by the emperor.
She created the “Sho Art” (Calligraphic Art) with the flowing lines of the Japanese calligraphy brush. She graduated from Keio University.
She has held a solo exhibition in New York. In 2016, her solo exhibition “Various Eyes! Un monde débordant de Kawaii!” was held in Paris. In 2018, she exhibited in the Japan area of “World Art Dubai”, one of the leading art fairs in the Middle East as the leading artist in Japan.
The elements of “fusion” between tradition and innovation, stillness and motion, and bridging of warmth through art are the most important themes of Kanan’s work.
Her wish is to build a bridge of coexistence and empathy through art.
住吉香南について
住吉香南は9歳の時に師匠である斗南師の弟子となりました。斗南師は、満洲国の皇帝である溥儀皇帝の師・惺斎金台錫から教えを受けました。11歳の時に、彼女は書道の正統派、基本的な五つの正統奥義、形式的な正統奥義、そして伝統的な龍の正統奥義を含む書道の伝統を受け継ぎました。これらの正統奥義は通常、皇帝だけが使用することが許されたと言われています。
日本の和筆の流麗な線で、「書アート」（書道アート）を創り出しました。彼女は慶應義塾大学を卒業しました。
住吉香南はニューヨークでも個展を開催し、2016年にはパリで「Various Eyes! Un monde débordant de Kawaii！」と題した個展を開催しました。2018年には、中東の主要なアートフェアの1つである「World Art Dubai」の日本エリアで、日本を代表するアーティストとして作品を展示しました。
住吉香南の作品の中心的なテーマは、伝統と革新の融合、静と動の対立、そしてアートを通じた温かさの橋の創造です。彼女の願望は、アートを通じて共存と共感の橋を築くことです。
